Accutane is a medication used in treatment of severe acne in case patients do not respond to other medicines. Accutane may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Directions

Follow your doctor's recommendations while using Accutane. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for exact dosing instructions.

Take this medication orally with a full glass of water with or without food. In order to prevent irritation of your throat do not crush, break, chew, or suck the capsule before swallowing it.

Stick toa regular dosing schedule while taking Accutane.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Accutane belongs to a class of retinoids. It treats acne by changing the characteristics of the skin oil, reducing skin oil production, and preventing abnormal hardening of the skin.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take double, excess or lessen the dose.

Storage

Store Accutane at room temperature. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Keep the medicineout of the reach of children and away from pets. Keep away from heat, moisture and light.
